![]() ![]() There were definitely games that I was absolutely dreading replaying for the sake of this series of retrospectives – three in this year’s batch alone – but this is the only one I’ve ever dreaded playing for the very first time. I’m not going to sugarcoat it: this might actually be the worst game tied to the Battle Network series. But before we get on with the main attraction, we still have one more spin-off that came between the third and fourth games in the series to cover… MegaMan Battle Chip Challenge As far as I’m concerned, the quality of this hexalogy is as erratic as it is poetic – in the sense that it almost seems to rhyme. But befitting the unorthodoxy of the MMBN games themselves, that isn’t the whole story. Don’t get me wrong: as far as I’m concerned, we will most certainly be touching on the series’ nadir this time. Battle Network, on the other hand, is a bit more nuanced. It’s funny, the last time I had to split a series retrospective across multiple articles, I made a big deal about the stark difference in quality between the games covered in the first and second parts. This time, I’ll be completing my look back at the Battle Network series. Like I said last time, this year I’ll be covering both the Battle Network and Star Force series this year, in order to round out those last few games that had been released back when I started this series three long years ago. Welcome back to this year’s MegaMan retrospective.
